from "the Rollers" album "Elevator". New upload with a few more pics of the boys.
Infos about the album:
Elevator is a 1979 rock album by the Bay City Rollers. Having replaced longtime lead singer Les McKeown with Duncan Faure, the group shortened their name to simply The Rollers, and pursued a more rocking, power-pop sound than their previous work.
The end was nigh as the Bay City Rollers prepared to record Elevator in 1979; indeed, many people might have believed they had already come and gone. Les McKeown was out, replaced by the unknown Duncan Faure, and Arista, the band's label for five years, had lost interest long ago. If it hadn't been for a slight contretemps over the LP's sleeve design -- the Rollers chose a picture of a pill, the label replaced it with a mellow band shot -- Elevator might have passed without even drawing the puns that its title invited. (Going down?) Elevator does, in fact, stand as perhaps the most convincingly musical of all the band's albums -- Trouser Press magazine even compared it to the Beatles' Rubber Soul. That might be pushing the envelope somewhat, but still the band had shrugged off the teeny sound of yesteryear and, unlike others who made a similar move, unearthed a worthwhile vibe with which to replace it. The ensuing hard rocking AOR direction was so convincing that, had they not been the Rollers, they could have given the likes of Foreigner and Toto a run for their money. "Turn on the Radio" certainly remains a fine number, while "Hello and Welcome Home" and "I Was Eleven" are also solid gold. But it really didn't matter how good the album was. The Rollers' day was done, and the rest of their career was simply the crumbs beneath the table.

  • Love the BCR! The Duncan era was some really amazing music, showing a very different sound than the 'Rollermania' days. Too bad the mainstream music media didn't give this more mature, honest rock sound a chance. The songs had 'hit single' written all over them. To me the BCR were so much more than Shang-a-lang, Saturday Night and Bye Bye Baby. I hold them up with the likes of The Beatles, The Clash, Badfinger and others. They deserve more respect!

  • great song (co-written and sung by new vocalist Duncan Faure, ex-Rabbit member) - but sadly underrated at the time (as was the album), so much better than some of the BCR's previous pop fodder aimed at the teenage market. THANKS FOR POSTING.

  • It seemed nobody wanted to touch the Rollers after Duncan Faure joined. The DJs didn't want to play their music, and the Roller fans didn't seem to be impressed with Duncan as Leslie's replacement, although Duncan is an excellent singer, songwriter, and musician. Add to the fact the group's TV show was cancelled before Leslie's departure and Arista's lack of promotion of Elevator and their follow-up album Voxx pretty much sealed the fate for the Rollers in the US.

  • Awesome Song and vid,... Love the Rollers,.. .always will.... Past, present and now!

  • ahh, i still know all the words... is that sad? geez, i loved this song!!

GREAT material on both especially "Wont you come home with Me" on Ricochet Thanks for the posts ,The reason I got both LOVE them & will pick up VOXX next!!

  • I Love The Rollers. BUT, I stopped buying thier music when Les left. He and the others were getting screwed. Plus, Duncan was a totally different breed then Les. Where Les was just damn HOT, Duncan was to boyish.

  • there is some great music on this album. I remember when I got this album and loved it. I also got to see them while they were touring to promote this album. I saw them in Great Adventure in Jackson NJ in late summer 1979. There is a quick pick of them playing there in this montag. You just see the last few letters of Great Adventrue-----TURE in the pic.

  • Thanks for posting! Could someone please post more album tracks from Elevator, Voxx and Ricochet. I'd love to hear them.
