  • If Rex made it into senate he'd have the useless senators (the majority) cut and run in a heartbeat!

  • goddamit his eyes freak me right out

  • Murphy should run for office again, and he's one of the few people I would completely trust as a senator

Canadians took Jack Layton's word for it that he was completely out of danger.. Some have speculated that the unidentified 2nd cancer was actually an advanced stage of the 1st cancer. If that was the case then Layton was never out of danger. The release of Layton's health records at the beginning of his campaign would have eliminated the possibility of him lying about his chances of survival. Secrecy surrounding the health of a would-be P.M. is a weakness in the Canadian system.

  • @westeightyone

I thought Jack Layton was diagnosed with his 2nd cancer after the election?

Both political systems have their strengths.

The American system allows individuality so you see a wide range of people presenting themselves for office.

The Canadian system has a strong centralized leader (Premier or Prime Minister, so things can get accomplished sooner rather then later.

One thing that your political system has over Canada is the mandatory release of a candidate's health records to the public. There is a growing resentment in Quebec over what happened in the case of Jack Layton.

More than a few Quebeckers have said that they would not have voted NDP if they had known how sick Layton was. The secrecy around Layton's health records and his 'second cancer' has lead many to speculate that Layton lied about his chances of survival.

  • @walperstyle

    you missed his point completely.
