Alright. We're not really going anywhere with this because we have different points of view. Your main idea is that it's a person's fault if he doesn't know about a story that's been around for so long, and therefore revealing bits of plot about it is not "spoiling". I say, revealing plot elements or info. that will affect the enjoyment a viewer gets from the dramatic tension that arises from a story, whether it is new or old, is still called "spoiling." Let's just drop it and agree to disagree.
