Continuing our defence of the humble 60mm refractor we turn our attention to the Moon, for many amature astronomers its both a blessing and curse but there is little doubt that it the most spectacular object to view in a small telescope. Here we see video at the mid range of magnifacation with basic photographic equipment.
that isn't very shaky for hand held. but why can't you hold it screwed? the moon doesn't go out of FOV in a second.

with 500$ you can buy a 100-120mm refractor from Skywatcher (if you're in europe) or Celestron (USA) and you'll have a great experience with the planets :) in that price range, they usually come with equatorial mounts, which are more stable i believe, and are good for deep space as well
if i had 500$ to buy one of those i would be sooooooooo happy........
