Investigating the very first pools at the origin of the olifants river in Mpumlanga, we caught carp and bass in a pool that had a few mudfish and some yellows at the shoulder of the inflow. About the highest up the fish can travel up the olifants. Mining now threatens the survival of all species along the whole strecth of the olifants right into the Dams. And mining have increased to alarming proportions in this part of Mpumalanga.
