In my opinion the best and most representative Gianni's work are his prints, his early 90's shows are the best of the best, I would say 90, 91 and 92. then he created those amazing and sophisticated fashion shows around 94 and 95.
and finally, I have to confess thet I didn't enjoyed his last collections that much =(
