April 1st 2010 - No Foolin!

I took April Fools Day off from work and spent it doing some father/son stuff. We decided to go rail-fanning and headed out under gloomy skies with cameras in hand.

Northern Idaho was our choice today as we could find long, heavy trains being dragged through mountain territory at high speed, by the most modern mainline power today's technology has to offer.

Three trains are featured in this full length (for YouTube) video on MRL home rails and the BNSF funnel. This is some of the most beautiful and majestic scenery on the railroad as it heads toward Big Sky Country!

1st, an eastbound manifest at Granite Cut on the funnel.
2nd, a westbound coal train on the MRL at Hope.
3rd, an eastbound stack train at Ramsey on the funnel.
