The former police chief who quickly retired after our march came out on a public interview in January saying how he was going to arrest open carriers and violate our rights. I felt this was a call to action for us so I immediately planned a march through Battle Creek. We first met up at the Lansing Ponderosa which the Lansing police clearly went out of their way to make an extreme scene out of nothing as we walked across the street to McDonalds and continued our Lansing dinner. Next it was off to Battle Creek for a march that started at a shooting range/firearm shop an ended up eating dinner at taco bell. there is a longer story to this see this thread for the details: http://opencarry.mywowbb.com/view_topic.php?id=36892&forum_id=30&high...

  • That guy with the AR is the same guy with the incident at ponderosa in Lansing.

  • @themeleed 1000' is 304.8 meters, or 333.3 yards. so just think of it as 3 football fields and then add another 33.3 yards/30.4 meters, or if you will, 100'. What i try to do is get a map with a scale on it,find where the school and its borders are, then determine what areas would be off limits inside the 1000' zone. now what if you enter a BUILDING, worst case 90/10 of it is in the zone, IANAL, but i would consider it would be fine if the MAIN entrance is part of the 10. 90 lot still off limits

  • @copperjarhead It's fine- redundancy is important for that. How do you exactly tell how far 1000 feet is?

  • @themeleed same in PA. Only thing you MUST take into consideration is the federal gun free school zone act. don't be within 1000 feet of school property, not building, PROPERTY. this stands for schools that operate K-12. i dont only mean a single school that has all that, but any school that operates grades within K-12 (elementary, junior high, Senior high) sorry for the redundancy.

  • I must be strange because i'm a liberal Democrat who loves his gun believes in the right to open and coneal carry, Im not a NRA member because they are too Right wing on some gun matters.....

  • you see most liberals ive met think guns have two fire modes "safe" and "killing spree" honestly what the fuck america? i think they need to be educated on it before they can decide anything.

  • @Northernsharpshooter Some states don't even require to be 21- here in Wisconsin (near canada) you can open carry a handgun (or whatever else) without permit/ID when you're 18 (just can't buy a handgun/handgun ammo from a store so you have to buy at gun shows/private sales).

  • It's our right and duty as Americans. It's a dangerous world. If you think the police are able to protect all the people all the time you are a Mow-Ron. NEAVER GIVE UP YOUR GUNS. and if you don't have any get some.
