This song is about the suffering that Indian immigrants had to suffer from when they've moved from India to Surinam (Dutch colony until 1975). Several incidents like riots had occured between Indian contract laboures (kantrakis) and the Dutch and one of them was the riots at the the sugar plantation Marienburg. The Javanese and Hindoestan laboures didn't want to accept low wages, humiliation and other human degrading things. The Dutch responded by staring a massacre. This is about that event
