Excerpts from a presentation about the planning process for a high speed rail corridor in the San Joaquin valley of California, the nation's most productive agricultural region.

All of America's challenges - economic, environmental, social justice, transportation, energy, water rights - are represented in the San Joaquin valley.

The California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley is working to address all of these issues by looking for sustainable, long term solutions.

Presentation by Robert R. Ball, Senior Planner, Kern Council of Governments.

  • PROP 1A IS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A HIGH-SPEED PASSENGER RAIL LINE, NOT A HIGH-SPEED FREIGHT LINE! What, are we going to use PUBLIC money to construct a new rail line for private ports and private shipping? Build your own HSR freight line!!!
