Left 4 Dead 2 - Expert Hard Rain Finale - Last Man On Earth (Mutation)

NOTE: The "credits" say that the difficulty was normal, but this is simply not true. At first I was not sure if the demo I recorded was actually taken during expert play, but after reviewing the video I'm sure it is. Factors such as the smoker reaction time (which is much longer on normal) and the tank health all indicate that the difficulty is indeed expert. And, hey, I did get the Still Something to Prove achievement after completing the finale.

I suspect that the mismatch between the demo protocol and the latest version of the game is to blame. The fact that Last Man On Earth is no longer available in the game may play a part too.

This was my second successful attempt at playing the Hard Rain campaign with the Last Man On Earth mutation on expert mode. (The first time my 'net connection went down so the achievement did not register.) For those who didn't get to play this mutation:

* You are the only survivor.
* There are no common infected nor boomers.
* An ability-based incap (smoker pull, hunter pounce, etc.) will result in you reviving yourself, but you will be in black-and-white mode immediately.
* A damage-based incap means you lose.
* From my testing, it appears that tank damage is slightly nerfed. Their hitpoints do not appear to be.

The sniper rifle is awesome. But sometimes you still need the baseball bat. I almost crapped myself twice. You'll see why.

It was definitely a good video but I have to agree with some people that it wasn't on expert. The tank should have incapacitated you with the rocks and the hits. Good video nonetheless.

@chwiteboy Tank damage was modified for Expert Last Man on Earth so that you can sustain two hits from either a hit or a rock.

@chwiteboy It would be, yeah. The simplest way I can demonstrate that this is not normal difficulty is to point out the first smoker pull. On normal you have about 2-3 seconds between the smoker's cry and when he pulls. In this video I consistently had way less time -- about a half second.

@serajewelks Just got the still something to prove achievement :) It turned out to be steam lagging/glitching for a while so it didn't register the games I finished but now it finally did. Something I noticed with this particular mutation is that it can be pretty damn luck based. Sometimes you get hopeless monster spawns and horrible supply locations while other times you hit the jackpot.
