Another poem for you guys to enjoy.
And, for once, I actually appear on camera unenhanced, excapt by green-screen. Don't get used to it or nuffin'; I have no idea whether I'll continue the trend. :)

"Seeing's believing,"
or so the saying goes
And in fact I agree
I don't see how anybody knows
Anything at all
Without evidence and reason
To believe without proof
Is just mental treason

Yet it's this kind of faith
The religious have in god
A kind of mental gymnastics
That I find quite odd
They're willing to say
That a deity exists
Though hiding himself is
Something on which he insists
Belief without proof is
God's most fierce of desires
Which to my mind makes believers
Big fat honkin' liars!

What's the difference
Between playing Pretend
And insisting you have
A divine invisible friend?
If a god exists you
Should be able to show it
Being opposed or unable
seems fishy, although it
appears universal, all
religions are credulous
despite the evidence of god
being scanty and nebulous

If you believe in anything
Not religion alone
On such scanty evidence
You deserve to get shown
As a credulous fool
With chowder for brains
And don't come crying to me
If anyone complains
That your worldview is faulty
And you believe without cause
After a while,
that SHOULD give you pause
To consider your position
Have you quite thought it through?
How do you know that
What you're believing is true?

There's only one way at all
To gain wisdom and knowledge
And, though it helps,
You needn't go to college
To use this technique of learning
Of figuring things out
The first step, of course
Is to listen to doubt!

Don't just believe,
Stop and make sure
With evidence and reason
You needn't endure
The ridicule of others
Cuz you'll have explored
Separated fiction from fact
Made your beliefs in accord
With reason, reality
Instead of fantasy delusion
You've brought your thoughts
To a reasoned conclusion

Faith, by contrast
Is like going, "So what?
"I don't give a rat's hiney
"If I talk out of my butt!"
Faith isn't knowing
Faith is unwarranted belief
Whether you're right or you're wrong
You may still come to grief
Because all you've done is guess
You don't actually know
And unarmed, without truth
Into danger you'll go

So for crying out loud
Please abandon that behavior
Unless you've seen photos
You don't know there'z a savior
Believe what you see
And what you can test
If not for your sake
Then for all of the rest
Of humanity, of life
For reason and truth
And now I bid you farewell
Yea, verily! Forsooth!

  • What does "forsooth" mean?

  • @Brandt761 Forsooth

    — adv

    archaic in truth; indeed

Collins English Dictionary - Complete & Unabridged 10th Edition

  • Good poem, F+L, great voice for reading. After further consideration, I think you look to be about 23 years old. The reason? Your cheekbones, which are more apparent in this straight-on looking-at-camera vid. Nice cheekbones are a great plus for a woman. And you have them.

  • @thereforeithought I think it's the Native American genetics at play, those cheekbones.

  • This is the second video that didnt pop up in my "Subscribtions" box wtf!

  • @sulthus It's just YouTube fucking with me; they're taking thirteen years to approve my videos lately.

  • Poems are best when not spun on a whim

But shined as this was, with vigor and vim

When told that science changes too much over the ages

I ask why they believe what's told in the dusty pages

of a book written from second hand knowledge

the kind only taught in a falsified college

these beliefs are baseless, vulgar, without class

and if you don't want to accept this, well just kiss my ass.

  • Thanks for your efforts on our behalf. Your videos more often than not make me laugh.

Your skepticism is very refreshing. Um...Damn... I can't think of an appropriate rhyme for refreshing. But that doesn't mean you are not bad-ass. Keep doing what you do.

  • @GayTempest lol i was gonna say "dr suess drops acid and gets philosophical" but you pretty much beat me to it :)

  • There should have been a caption at the end saying "inspired by Dr. Suess." lol I loved the poem by the way.

  • @BionicDance you could try writing metal lyrics instead. You get to be very mystical, and you have the music to go with...

  • @BionicDance phew, that is one old-ass word.

  • Wow.. I came here by an accident, I actually wanted to shut the video down after a while, but you've managed to draw me into listening to it all.. Excelent mix of music and poetry, I like the message you're trying to pass on. Good luck with it all ;)

  • poetry booooooo!

  • nice one.
