I've got a totally new appreciation for Portishead from these live performances. Beth's performance and voice rules. Most importantly these lives performances really keeps her techno bandmates electronics in control. They totally go over-board on the studio cd's.

beth is like fuck it. i am going to sing my song the way i want to sing it, and i dont give a shit if you like it or not. right when you think this is whack, she hits you with it and it touches your inner core. you dont know whether to shit or go blind. she sees you and you cant hide. i am loving her soulful sound, and the orchestra kicks ass, i dont mind the lp scratching its clever.

I actually saw them in Dallas in the 90s. Portishead is GREAT! Don't ask me why. I think it is either something you "get" or not.
