Elvis was the most original entertainer there ever was and it was purely because of his looks, charisma, stage presence, and especially his VOICE. His vocals WERE the art and creativity, you ignorant moron.

@Maureen712 Interesting, your mentioning the uniqueness of his name, Elvis Presley. And at first the two names were always said together in referring to him. Growing up in northern Virginia, I too was struck by how different the name looked & sounded, but watched it flash in my teen culture to marquee mystique seemingly overnight. Your "northern" fan perspective is also interesting, that you "got it" as soon as you saw it. Like you, I'm so glad I was there in 1956.

I think the worst thing was when he left Sun Studio he did not develop his art as a musician .He no longer contributed artistically and creatively. Signing with RCA was the end.

Really enjoyed this! Great pics' of Elvis I've never seen before! Thanks! I'm so glad my generation was the first to experience Elvis. He was as unique to us Northeners as his name! I remember the first time I saw him on TV. I was mesmerized! I knew he was someone special (and he always will be). :D *****
