  • Record year for rainfall: metaphor for someone's disposition,

Literal: Record Year for Rainfall Wettest year (in particular summer "before the fall")

Also the use of Proserpina- reference to the Roman Empire which can also link to the chorus "does it look so grey before the fall." Roman Empire as a metaphor for the state of one/ all relationships in general and vice versa.

Probably more than a 3-way metaphor to be quite frank but I should have really said chorus rather than title. Sorry.

  • how does that 3-way metaphor work?

  • This song is brilliant, I love that the title of the song is being used as a 3-way metaphor, and that in every way it works just as well. It's also very haunting, more so in fact than some of the D's songs on darker ventures (e.g. the rake's song)

  • My friend just introduced me to this band and this is the song that officially hooked me. I can't eait to see them at Bonnaroo this summer!

  • "I've go a temper set for tender" is probably the best phrase from any song..

  • alright, i guess getting there at noon earns you the front place spot, considering i got there around four. i bet those two hours were nonstop fun and uh other than that

    such a good concert 8)

also the banjo is gorgeous :O

  • Seriously, the banjo on this song is gorgeous.
