This is a selection of more music from the Macintosh version of SimCity 2000. It's interesting to hear the difference between the Mac, Windows, DOS, and console versions. Note that the Mac version doesn't seem to use QuickTime as its MIDI synthesizer. The individual instruments are stored within the game application itself. Some of the "bass" type instruments seem to have a crackly/static kind of sound to them, which makes them seem a bit jarring at times, but overall the music sounds quite good.

  • Excuse me if I'm wrong, but isn't there one song missing in this collection (SimCity 2000 Music - Mac Version 1 & 2) - I think it's called "Disaster Decision"? Mac version of that song was really cool and desperate in a way, but the PC version has none of those elements I recalled...

  • @JakeRonimus There could very well be other songs I missed. I'm not even sure how many there are to begin with. It's just difficult to get the one you want to play since it's pretty much random to begin with.

  • The first song of this selection is my favorite! <3

  • @latenightlogic

I played this game first on the mac. PC's midi versions of these songs never sounded anywhere near as good.

  • @jjakucyk Yeah, I read you. Thanks for the set anyway, it brought up many memories. :)

  • @VampireDayWalker The PC was the original, if I remember. I'm more to the PC version because that's what I grew up with. The songs here are good, but I hate how on the last song and sometimes others the Strings keep getting interrupted by each note, though.

  • Thank you so much for these Mac versions of the music. It's the kind I first heard before the PC versions butchered them. There seems to be one song missing... the Disaster one.

  • @Zingzing27 Mine too. It's very "business like"

  • This is the Mac version!!! The best ever. Hours upon hours of listenning to this music. A classic.

  • So many hours of school I've spent on the Mac-OS version of SC2K. When I started playing on the PC, however, I was spitting fire. Not only is the Mac-OC music superior, but the graphics as well. Maxis took a lot of time enhancing SC2K to be released in 2004 of the Mac-OC, and it payed off. It was a clear improvement compared to the DOS/PC version. Oh, you are missing one song though.
