Linus' line about the Great Pumpkin "trying harder" by being #2 is a take-off of a classic Avis rental car slogan.

Snoopy's laugh, grunts, moans and barks -  with every single special and movie ever made - was provided by animator Bill Melendez.

I think the name of the melody is Lucy And Linus. What a classic melody from the cartoon specials for Charlie Brown. I also like Peppermint Patty theme from the early cartoon specials.
