-
@myfagan omg.... that would rock my socks !!!!!
-
@myfagan It's meant to be that he taught Bucket Head, but you may be right :-)
-
paul gilbert is bucket head!!! im prettty sure
-
@BEHamiltonSr And specially back in time when he was younger he use to sweep pick even more, like the scary intro solo he played on "Zero Hour" from Joey Tafolla's first solo album. (A true master piece and real guitar god reunion, Paul Gilbert as a guest, Tafolla and Macalpine on keyboard)
-
@BEHamiltonSr : Evidence of his monster sweeping can be seen on Mr Big's "Road To Ruin" solo from the Lean into it album. The space he covers is amazing - OMG he's scary good!!
-
@BEHamiltonSr Not according to Paul or maybe you comment what you think is true to be actual fact.
He can sweep one basic shape, go buy some of his newer dvds
-
Although Paul prefers using the String Skipping technique, the can sweep pick like a mad man. He just doesn't do it, as this is more his signature way of doing arpeggios...I have interviewed him on this and been to many seminars at the local music stores and at the NAMM have ran into him many times to the point that I have his personal email address, so I can assure you, PAUL GILBERT CAN SWEEP PICK... :)

Pfft.. Hackz.
-
he plays it so clean
thats crazy
-
He doesn't really do sweeps. Maybe a little here and there, but he does string skips instead in a sweep fashion or manner. That doesn't make much sense I know, but anything you hear by him that sounds like a sweep is most likely a string skip or some type of scalar pattern. I learned this from one of his instructional videos if you are curious.

@Xsjadoful im interested, please send it to me.
-
I'm not a PG fan, but I think I'm right in saying that he uses sweeping on the Get out Of My Yard album a few times....
-
If anyone's interested this is from issue 136 of Total Guitar, just dug it out of the garage
-
@DKURevan hey you.. callate,, graacias
-
I didn't see the reference to the one song, but I'm guessing it's to do with the 3 strings. He does it in 2. 3 E's for Edward and GOOMY. Also uses it in the intro for "Be My Wife".
-
thats true, but he's cut back on it recently, it was more for his racer x days.
-
@godsmack4232 I said that what he does on the DOUBLE neck. I've never seen him use it for anything but that.
My guitar teacher gave me the GT TAB for this piece and told me to start working on it slowly, and not listen to Paul Gilbert playing it because I'd cry if I did.
Why oh why didn't I listen?
