Timber Timbre used to be the solo project of recording artist Taylor Kirk, then he got signed to Arts & Craft and enlisted 2 other people to form a travelling trio. He's been making music as Timber Timbre since 2005. This is his 3rd album.

Nominated for a Polaris Music Prize in 2009, Timber Timbre make haunted, understated, moody, stripped down, folksy, bluesy, rock music. And it's rad as hell.

Consisting of sparse song arrangements, dark subject matter, introverted emotion. It's all fairly slow paced, loaded with emotional resonance.

Think of Portishead without the electronics and female vocals. Replace their equipment with some violins, keyboards, acoustic guitars and banjos. Then you'll start getting the idea.

Taylor Kirk singing voice is mournful, warbled and soulful. His lyrics deal with the supernatural, loss, despair. He issues warnings to certain people to watch their backs. He practices verbal voodoo. He sounds like a pretty cool guy.

This is definitely some rainy day music. The soundtrack for when you're at your lowest. It's elegantly crafted, beautiful to listen to, full of understated sophistication. It's a real blast. I'd recommend this to fans of good music everywhere. Engaging, atmospheric, easy to digest. I can't say enough good things about it. Check it out.
