I got an Air-X and set it up on my roof. No amps in normal conditions... But then there was this one day where everything seemed to go. What a disappointment!

  • are u located in montreal?

  • @kricotas Yes, I'm in Montreal.

  • So when it starts turning backwards, it must be sucking electricity out of your home. Bummer.

  • It doesn't run backward!

It's an illusion. It does bend and act confused!

    That's all and it's gone!

I'm still waiting for someone to tell me how much amps these things are doing in whatever 'perfect' condition there is.

  • I ran the same turbine for 4 years.During that time it was hit by lighting twice(also taking out the inverter twice) and Something hit a blade tip which broke(maybe a bird, bat or something blowing in the wind).I was also running two 120 watt solar panels over the same 4 years and had no trouble at all with them.Solar is quiet, easy no install,no noise or vibration,no moving parts and it wont bother the nieghbors.GO SOLAR!!!!

  • Thanks for your positive comments. I'm still curious how many amps you were getting on average? 2, 10, 20? Nobody ever mentions that. And yes, solar has it's benefits. I can always tell if it's sunny or not.

  • @kricotas

    i can see the snow!

the city make you put it?

a friend toll me that he couldnt put it... because of them...?

  • If you mount it higher, it just makes for a bigger chore every time it inevitably malfunctions.

I agree that it must be mounted higher to avoid turbulence, but all of these units act the same in high wind conditions (even on 60' or 80' towers).

I've seen AirX's do 30+ amps, but only for a split second (12VDC). Routinely they will do 15-20A steadily but anything more is near impossible in my opinion.

  • Comeon, we know it looks like its going backwards cause it is turning really fast and you cant see fast on video like you can with your eyes. Just look at one of my videos. If you are getting no amps during normal 20-30mph wind or even 10mph wind, you need to call the manufacturer and have it sent in.

  • Are you using the OEM blades? We noticed a big increase in power using aftermarket blades we bought off ebay (Note: I don't sell aftermarket blades on ebay, but we did buy 2 sets)

  • Good idea:] ill try w/mine!

  • Hello, i have a marine air and got it for cheep but its 24v and my bank for solar panels is 12v how can i cheeply incorporate the marine air?

  • If your wind speed is near the 80 KPH (49.7 MPH) you say, the turbine might be in stall or shut down mode. This prevents damage to the circuitry and rotor blades.

I have the AIR X 400. Stall mode occurs @ 35 MPH, The blades slow down. At 50MPH shut down occurs for about 5 minutes. The turbine then will cycle in this mode till winds are slower. Hope this helps.

  • In NON TURBULENT air my Air x puts out around 30 amps at 15 m/s (30 knots or 56 km/hour) and is at the top of its performance. Any higher wind or increase in voltage triggers a shutdown which shorts the alternator to earth and the blades slow to 1 to 2 revs per second. You may need to adjust the output voltage cutout depending on the voltage/impedance of your load. Don't skimp on the wiring. Cheers
