If one counts every note one can sigh like a bull or whimper like a puppy, almost everybody could sing AT LEAST 4 octaves. But no...vocal range is not just a note one stretches and goes "Aaaaaah", true vocal range has to be CONTROLLED, otherwise it's just random unmusical shit.

When one listens to a pianist does one say "OMG he is a great player" or does one say "OMG the piano is amazing"? It's the same for a voice...even when someone compliments the voice they are complimenting their singing skill, not just the instrument itself, because an instrument used without proper control it's no good.

Even the most expensive Steinway grand piano sounds like absolute shit when banged on by an amateur, while a $20 keyboard is heaven when played by a virtuoso.
