John Miles - Remember Yesterday
My first ever gig was in 1978 at Bradford St Georges Hall to see John Miles on the Zaragon tour. No-one has ever topped this band. They were musically tight. This was originally on Top of the Pops (or is it Supersonic?) but shown in the early 90s on UK Gold. The reason i thought it was TOTP was because at the end there is Ed Stewart introducing. Also seen him on 2 other occasions, all 3 in Bradford.

  • Agree with Bolly558,when you think of the shite that gets in the charts these days you wonder why talent like John Miles was never a masive star world-wide.

  • @lezzliea - simple really, in the 70s there was so much 'real' talent around that John just didn't 'cut it' with a lot of people. These days, you've got acts from x factor against other acts from x factor for chart domination. The ONLY thing that sets today's 'artists' apart is who is the best looking! Also, you only need to sell a few thousand records to get a hit today but those 'hits' stay in the chart for a few weeks only. It's a totally different ball game really.

  • Always thought John was very under-rated in the UK. Think he had a rough time with Decca towards the end as well. Saw him twice in the 70s here in Stoke-on-Trent. He and the band were amazing both times. Music is my all time fave track by him. But this one comes into my all time favourite Top 20 too. All time classics....

  • @Bolly558 - watch the live version of Music that has been uploaded by someone called derniko2006 - it's the best version on YT. Awesome, he's still got it.

  • Uk Gold was Thames and BBC. Supersonic was LWT. It was i think one of those times TOTP had a space free and JM got the gig as he was "bubbling under. Its the single edit and its sung live as you would expect from this fine and underrated musician. Saw him on the MMPH tour and he was brilliant.

  • I saw him on that tour also. Still got the programme. I saw him in Bradford, where did you see him?

  • Amazing musician and amazing music!

  • Excellent song from an excellent album... massively underrated. Stranger in the City is still one of my favourite albums and I still listen to it 30-odd years on.

Thanks for posting... made my day !

  • Saw him at the 'City Hall' in Hull in '78. Still have the programme too! Absoultely brilliant band; no synthetic pop here! My girlfriend at the time went thinking she would be bored and came out the biggest fan! Hmmm, I wonder what she's doing now....
