Ecology Day at Maharishi Centre for Educational Excellence-Bhopal July 17 2009

On July 17th the Department of Forests delivered over 500 saplings to Maharishi Centre for Educational Excellence as a part of their program "My School = Green School. Each one, plant one!" The Ecology Club was inaugurated by Dilip Chakravarti and the saplings officially gifted to the school by Dr. A. K. Bhattacharya, Chief Conservator of Forests. Mrs.Reeta Prakasam, the Principal of MCEE presided over the event. The ceremony entailed the planting of symbolic saplings near the entrance to the school by Dr. Bhattacharya, Dilip Chakarvarti, Mrs. Prakasam, Mrs Raut (wife of Director General of Police), Mrs. Alahwat, (wife of the Director of Maharishi Institute of Management-Bhopal), and Mrs. Jaishree Singh (Secretary of the NRI Group of Institutes). All the students received a sapling to take home and in the outdoor ceremony made a group promise to plant it, to take care of it and to take care of the environment as a whole as well.
