  • He never says he will work to repeal DOMA.

He only states that he will work to repeal that part of DOMA that has been used as a club.

In the debate on the previous night, he states that the problem with DOMA is that it establishes a de facto federal definition of marriage, and that he aims to repeal that part of DOMA.

I mean no offense, and don't mean to be nit-picky, but as far as I can ascertain, the title to this video is incorrect.

    Respectfully,

    Alex Peak

  • We're aware of Barr's position up to his nomination speech, as we helped drive him in that direction! However, based on the video clip, Barr clearly calls for "repeal," as opposed to amendment (as he mentioned earlier). Outright Libertarians members on the convention floor spoke extensively with voting delegates, and it was the opinion of most Barr delegates we spoke with -- as well as our interpretation -- that Barr called for a full repeal of DOMA in his Sunday morning nominating speech.

  • My argument is to have the whole marriage license done away with, so that two gay guys can get married in a gay church and go home and have gay sex. My girlfriend can move in with me and we can tell everybody we are husband and wife. We can even write up a contract saying we will stay together forever as husband and wife. The difference in our two marriages is one is blessed by God, and the other is condemned by God.

  • I know it does. I have looked it up. I have my own copy of the Constitution. In fact, I have a copy of The Freedom Documents from Chuck Baldwin Live. Of course it violates the full faith and credit clause of the Constitution, but the Constitution is not above God's laws. I argued that they have a right to do whatever they want. Truth be told, the marriage license is unconstitutional. I don't want my marriage to be recognized in the same way as the gay guy across the street. cont. below...

  • @psxwarrior The Defense of Marriage Act is blatantly unconstitutional. That's all that matters. It violates the full faith and credit clause--look it up.

  • I wish I hadn't voted for him. Gay people have the right to do whatever they want. They can even say we got a marriage license, and got married at church, but it doesn't change the fact that their is no such thing as same sex marriage in the Word of God. The Lord condemns homosexuality. That's the way it is, and the marriage license cannot make it valid in the eyes of God. I expect to get a lot of thumbs downs, but that's ok. Sometimes, the truth hurts.

  • Youre right. This is why I decided not to vote for Hillary. I was SO eff'N tired of "I said this, but i meant that" "I did this, but had I known I would have done this instead" "After I did that, Had I realized I would have done this" "That was a very long time ago, but I've changed since" Bla bla bla... FLIP FLOP FLIP FLOP Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuullsh!ti
  • Who cares if he is a local or state social conservative.....he is running for FEDERAL office and he is a FEDERAL Libertarian. He has been educated on the constitution more in the last 5 years than EVER in his life! Please don't knock people in the liberty movement! For years Barr has fought hard(with his own money) to correct the damage done while he was in office! He is the signal to the blind republicans and democrats that joining us is not crazy. The constitution is sound! Peace!

  • He didn't just vote for it. He authored it and introduced it. I don't buy the sincerity of his flip-flop. I think he's still a religious social conservative.

  • No kidding, his family has helped him understand the wrongs of the republican party and it has been amazing watch his transformation into a libertarian as many of my family and friends have done over the last four years!

  • Bob Barr is significant because here's a guy who came from the wrong end of things and has seen the error of his ways -- cut the dude some slack....
