Yay rating system.
If the rating system was well known even earlier, then I would've been allowed to play Street Fighter 2 because rated T is more "fantasy violence" and "animated blood" than Mortal Kombat's "hardcore violence" and "blood and gore". I think Street Fighter 2 wouldn've sold a whole bunch more than Mortal Kombat if it wasn't such an expensive cartridge.

The game was not intended for kids. Because at the time we, Americans as a whole, felt that the most violent game would come from JApan, we jsut sat back, and the game didn't from Japan, it was US made.

so... telling stories about a dude dying on the cross getting tortured or teaching intolerance and genocide from bible, letting kids go at it with real violence and injuries in peewee football is okay, but mortal kombat is bad... i dont get it lol

MK the orignal reason for ESRB as well video game controversy . Thanks for posting this. Brings back memories of my mom refusing to buy this for me.
