@helpercoach The failure is communicating how they can help the company. This implies that an applicant should know what is important to the company they are applying to. So, of course ask questions first, then communicate how you can help. But most people fail in this attempt. Thanks for the comment.

Yep, nailed it right on the head: how you approach career search truly affects the outcome.
Focusing on tweaking the resume is less powerful and less effective than *first* really figuring out the unique distinct value you bring, and how to communicate that in a clear and compelling way to each particular employer.
Focus less on the resume, more on the value you can bring, that an employer wants and needs.
