Do you think OPEC will allow this from becoming a reality?

ok so how much energy goes into producing this stuff? Bare in mind people need agriculture to grow food as well. Biofuels are one solution to peak oil, however industry and lifestyles will never be able to consume at their current rate. It will still pay to not own a car and live next to a train station.

The low energy pumps required to circulate the water and air in the tanks can be run off of small solar panels. All that's left is the sun itself (or sugar as the video suggests, but that's iffy for me as it could lead to deforestation to make room for sugar cane fields). The extraction process can be very simple and efficient. At that point it's just a matter of making bio diesel or running off of straight oil.

agreed :)
compare Human + BIcycle (30kcals/mile) to biofuels.

I bet the former will wipe the floor with human+car+biofuels in terms of quality of life per "unit of land"

future is definitely bicycle,train,teleworking.

still, i think biofuel work is worthwhile..

algae has many more positive traits than Jatropha including production yields by 10:1

agreed.
1. we need to stop the emission of greenhousegasses with the help of algaeoil

2. to get the CO2 level to back to "normal" by reconstructing the rainforests and their wildlife.

you are absolutely correct..think of this though. As the algae grows it absorbs CO2 and as we burn it, the SAME AMOUNT of CO2 is released so it's carbon neutral. That is except for the fact that we don't burn ALL of the algae, just the oil inside. The remaining dried algae can be used as fertilizer or feed, thereby making it Carbon Negative for us.

O2 because of the photosynthesis
