Saputangan - A Great Indonesian Love Song by Pak Gesang, Sung and Played by Stanley Power

Along side Ismail Marzuki, Pak Gesang is one the greatest Indonesian popular and folk song composers. His world widely known song is Bengawan Solo which has been sung by many singers and languages.

After Bengawan Solo, this is the best known and loved love song in Indonesia. It is sung from the Presidential Palace to the village (kampung) gathering all over the Indonesian Archipelago.

It tells the tale of a love found and lost and all that is left is a perfumed handkerchief, as a symbol of the love lost. This song is normally sung in the Indonesian Kroncong beat, which is much slower and deliberate. I jazz it up a little to make it a bit more accessible.
