Pretty cool that WPVI is doing this... I'm also glad that WKBW is keeping it alive, but their version doesn't sound as good as this one, nor does it look as good.

damn awesome theme
-
@AshburnStadium Pittsburgh should bring it back.

i just remade this show open for my school. subscribe to me if you want to see it. it should be up in a couple days.

I'm pretty sure Ed O'Brien of KFSN and KTRK would sound better...at least not that big of a change. agree?

Who cares if the announcer is getting old. Philadelphia will NEVER get tired of this theme and/or the announcer. I hate it when outsiders come on here and bitch about a news theme, when they have NO idea about the history and the reason for it's longevity.
-
I remember when Jim Obrien died I think that Jim Gardiner and Gary and one of the newscasters couldn't hold it in and took them about three minutes to speak about Jim's death. These guys and gals on the news are like brother and sister. I actually am glad a moment of silence for gary at the ballpark. They should put a monument of all them in the front area just so that people could see we had legends who had class.

Gary Papa was in tears when Harry passed away, as they were close.
Little did we know that Gary would join him in only two months' time. Personally, I thought Gary had beaten his prostate cancer.
What worries me as a 45-year-old man is that my doctor won't examine me for prostate cancer until I am 50 - but Gary was already in the metastatic (advanced) stage by age 49.
I like to think that the day Gary passed away, he had booked a pregame interview with Harry Kalas and Richie Ashburn. ;-)

I heard about that due to people calling up.
Rest in Peace Harry and Gary. Two legends in the city.

He might sound good, a possible replacement for Jeff Kayle (WPVI's current announcer)
WE CANNOT GET TIRED OF THIS!

In Philly, that's like saying you're tired of Harry Kalas broadcasting the Phillies!
Rest in peace, Harry!
WPVI tried to redo this theme in 1996 or 1997, but viewer reaction was swift and severe. The London Philharmonic version lasted less than a week.
