It's strange how alcohol gives a singer's voice a sort of "emotional edge". Adele probably wouldn't be the force she is today without the "assistance" of alcohol. That said, I actually prefer covers of Etta & Adele songs sung by people who have never used alcohol ... who can go "even further" into the feelings/emotions being expressed in the lyrics. You've probably sussed that I don't drink. He he.

All you need to know about the American music industry is that performers like this get shelved because this stupid American public is so addicted to conservatism and so allergic to raw, even controversial, honesty that it can't stand to be faced with real people telling real stories. Idiots prefer "marketable" singers because idiots can't think for themselves. That Etta James barely made a living over the last 40 years of her life, while cunts like Gaga and Beyonce thrive ... is just sad.
