Considered an underdog by most in this match-up, visiting John Glenn was quick to prove it could hang with reigning District champion Maysville. In the end though, experience prevailed, as the Panthers escaped with the pulsating 67-65 win in overtime.
The Muskies dominated through two quarters building a 32-11 halftime lead. Thats when the Panthers decided to wake up.
In the second half, Maysville came back to life riding a gutsy 24-point performance from senior point guard Jared Cox. The Panthers outscored the Muskies 22-11 and continued to fight through a 10-point fourth quarter deficit until the end of regulation.
Max Huddlestons three-pointer from the corner with five seconds on the clock ended the comeback and forced overtime.
In the extra period, it was Cox who provided the heroics for the Panthers when he drilled a deep jumper from the top of the key with 1.6 seconds remaining in overtime to secure the win.
Maysville improved to 6-3 overall and 5-1 in the MVL to keep a share of the league lead. Meanwhile, John Glenn slipped to 4-4 and 3-3 in the MVL.
Charlie Karling paced the Muskies in the losing effort with 21 points. Sophomore Jake Heagen added 19 points and 10 rebounds.
