The Darkside of the Boom is a riveting documentary that exposes the candid reality of the South Florida real estate boom. With the promises of instant fortune, many "flippers" hover around the endless maze of condo developments with aspirations of joining the new millionaires club. The major developers promise of a new luxurious urban oasis in the heart of downtown drives investors and young affluent predominantly white homeowners in droves. The urban poor are forced to uproot because of higher rents, higher taxes and the mom and pop grocery stores are replaced by gourmet coffee shops serving $4 lattes.

Despite the scenario above, many believe an evolution in urban redevelopment is only natural, and this cycle has been occurring for many years. Some refer to this phenomenon as the human eco system. Those who can't adapt to the changes are left behind. However, with the city's affordable housing program under scrutiny, the taxpayers want and deserve some answers and many have taken matters into their own hands as we can already see with the Umoja Village, take back the land movement established in Liberty City, Miami.




As socially conscious documentary filmmakers it is our job to take a non-bias approach and get the insight on the housing crisis from a variety of perspectives. We welcome all government officials, business leaders and concerned citizens to share their insight on what's becoming a real hot button issue in American politics.

That's true to some degree, but remember the middleclass is also being forced to sell in some areas, because of current tax laws,forget the lazy bums who live off tax dollars.
