Well yeah, but having control over FOREIGN sources of oil gives the U.S. and the West more leverage and power over other nations. It's not only about our own oil needs; it's about sustaining U.S. dominance. There's no doubt If Eastern powers had the ability to wage war in the ME on the scale the U.S. does they would be there on the same cockamamie missions. There are no "good guys." It's a chess game, and the U.S. has it's pieces where it wants them.
