http://www.pbs.org/carrier Blue Shark is the code name for a US Navy operation in the Persian Gulf. In addition to providing protection for the USS Nimitz, the HS-6 "Indians," a Navy helicopter squadron, monitors activity in the Gulf and on the waterways in southern Iraq. This is an extended version of a sequence featured in hour 5, "Show of Force," of the PBS series CARRIER, which follows a core group of participants aboard the USS Nimitz, from the elite fighter pilots to the youngest sailors and everyone in between, as they navigate personal conflicts around their jobs, families, faith, patriotism, love and the war on terror. CARRIER premieres Sunday-Thursday, April 27-May 1, 2008, 9:00-11:00 p.m. ET on PBS (check local listings). For more information, visit http://www.pbs.org/carrier

HS 6 was the helicopter squadron deployed with on the Connie CV-64 WEST-PAC 81-82.
I flew a plane gaurd mission with them 20November1981.
It was great.
They flew H-3 Sikorsky's back then.
Good to see they are still around.

I loved the Navy it was great almost re-enlisted and planned to be an aircrewman in a helicopter squadron.
Sometimes I wish I had, even with everything I have now.

This was a really great and interesting video about life on the USS Nimitz during an overseas deployment. "Carrier" was a great documentary series and it was one of my favorite shows as well. One of my areas of interest on Aircraft Carriers are the Navy and Marine Corps aviators and the fighter squadrons that they belong to. It's interesting to see how they adapt to being onboard a Carrier for 6 months. Thanks for posting this.

check the website for the show, that was the song used during the opening credits. i think there's even a "making of" feature for this song located there.
