HELLO! I very much want to use this rescue Cd.
I can't get it to update though. When I click on "Network Connections" it says "No card detected"...ETH 0. I was advised that I must configure my Network Card to ETH 1. I do not know how to turn on my network card in this Acer machine. Mr. Britec09, can you assist me? Anyone?

Hello! 3 different cards show up, but only 1 is the Network Card installed in the PC. It is a Realtek Family PCI-e Fast Ethernet NIC. Ethernet gets plugged in with cable. I ONLY have Wifi. I found the Network Card under System Hardware in Vista. I used the Bitdefender CD to boot into the boot cd environment and looked thru Network Connections. It said, "No Wireless Network Card Found" and also "ETH0". I need to change the Card to ETH 1. Can't figure out how to do that. I'm PISSED.

@Idolpurist is your network card install in device manager?

I only have the option right now to use Wifi. Thannks for the suggestion about F-Prot, but I've downloaded 4 boot CDs already! I don't need any more. I MUST first figure out how to turn on my Realtek Network card. Once I do that, I think things will finally be OK.

@Idolpurist np, if you can connect the system up with an ethernet cable. F-Prot makes a similar boot cd and you can download the updated to a thumb drive. I couldn't get it to update off of it, but, didn't put too much effort into it either.

@redpopripple Hey! I just booted the Cd and Clicked "Network Connections" and got "No Wireless Card Found". "ETH 0". My conclusion is that my Network Card is turned OFF! All I have to do now is figure out how to turn it on. Thank you for your excellent advice. I am now getting closer to the answer.

Hi. WHERE do I find the choice of Ethernet cards to choose? While I'm in the bootable environment under a setting, or in Normal Mode where I should select it? I have an Acer Laptop.

@Idolpurist I just clicked on configure network and choose the default on a dynamic connection. On an internal network, again, you would have to configure the ethernet connection manually. Also, make sure you select the correct ethernet card. On an Dell Laptop, it showed me two, eth0 and eth1, I had to use eth1
