@kraythe no it has to do with major oil families and "players" in the local economy's using the religious manipulation of the people to achieve or resolve disputes over labor or compensation for oil in general

@MsScambuster wow you make a very compelling analytical argument. You are ignorant beyond your years. It is rather pathetic to have to legislate Energy Efficiency but the majority of Americans are more concerned with american idol or the no news zone than they are about educating themselves on current technologies. he state of California hasn't increased its consumption of electricity in the past thirty years. We have offset all of our states growth with energy conservation and incentives.
-
This entire movement of energy efficiency, clean energy and "green" energy and job is a scam to rip off the public. First you scare the people and defraud them.
Efficiency is good. but corruption isn't
I urge you to look up RESNET/HERS and its Energy Providers and judge for yourself. See your tax dollars taking going into the pocket of a giant monopoly.

Islamic fascism is caused by a particular interpretation of the Koran that is not shared by the vast majority of muslims. It has nothing to do with the USA as they have shown willingness and eagerness to kill other muslims via targeted, direct, vicious, indiscriminate attacks. They can not be negotiated with. It is in their heart and soul that it is RIGHT to kill those that don't believe as they do. They believe it as much as you believe you are breathing air.
Liberal spin is trumped by fact.

The fact is that islamic terrorism has been going on for 40 years. It has to do with their particular variant of Islam and its credos that anyone that doesnt agree should be killed. if you think you can negotiate with these people, I invite you to try. Please leave a copy of your dental records at the consulate on your way out.
The abject stupidity of thinking they are peace loving people just wronged is staggering. Even comparing americans to them is to admit complete stupidity.

By all means we need to develop that. Hence the "all of the above" solution posed by the McCain / Palin ticket. However, you can not simply and REALISTICALLY drop oil from the market any time soon. The infrastructure alone for hydrogen vehicles is going to cost tens of trillions. in total you are talking hundreds of trillions.
What you and the dems propose, a sort of cold turkey would DESTROY the economy of this nation. It would completely wipe out the USA. Is that what you want?
Well its clear that you can add but can you relay the rest of the facts? The numbers you give are TOTAL in the entire gulf of mexico and its minor for 2 reasons.
1) It was spread out over a VAST area of ALL the rigs in the gulf. It is a sum, not a single spill.
2) It was contained to deep water meaning it barely affected costal areas at all.
I could add up all the spilled water in denver in a year, that doesn't mean denver is flooded.
fact > misleading with statistics

You should take a deeper look at the "no significant spill" issue due to hurricanes. Our country's own MMS released the following statistics after Katrina/Rita hurricanes: 113 platforms totally destroyed, and - more importantly - 457 pipelines damaged, 101 of those major lines with 10" or larger diameter. At least 741,000 gallons were spilled from 124 reported sources (the Coast Guard calls anything over 100,000 gallons a "major" spill). At least get your facts straight.

You are adding up the total amount of leaks from ALL of the rigs combined spread over an area of thousands of square miles. All of these leaks were confined to deep water with no significant volume per leak and easily repaired.
The reality is that the environmental impact was near 0.
