Yep, I'm with you, amlloyd990, I own a ktm 990 adv and my mate has a bmw f800gs so I've ridden both extensively. The beemer is a great bike with a few small limitations, very reliable (once the recall items have been sorted) and great on road and off - slightly more on road than off. My Kato is a great bike with a few less limitations, very reliable and brilliant BOTH on road and off - slightly more off road than on. If I'd never ridden a ktm I'd be happy with the bmw BUT I have, so I'm not.

I've had my '04 950 from new. 93,000kms old now. Done a couple of fuel pumps (Mitsubishi units) and 2 water pump seals. Some of my mates have GS's, the Kato is far more reliable electrically and mechanically and shits on them on and off road. Just the facts dudes.
