Local forecast recorded in Wilmington, NC. at 9:48 am on 7/12/96 during the approach of Hurricane Bertha with a hurricane local statement...Thanks to Tony (Hurricaneadventures) for sending me the footage.
hmm, well yea, I lived in Wilmington during both of these hurricanes...Bertha we only lost 9 trees in our yard, Fran we lost 23 (4 of which fell on our house, and we also had a tornado come through and rip my basketball goal out of the ground and throw it down the street)...I'd say Fran was worse.. Insurance company loved us that year.

I was 1 years old when this storm hit and we were visiting my grandmother in Myrtle Beach and we were leaving right when this storm was moving in.

Fran was bad for us as well, she blew the roof off of our brick home in whiteville.

Fran is no longer a hurricane name. There's a Hurricane Bertha in the Atlantic right now. Guess which was worse.
