  • Whenever i do burn-outs in my '66 impala, i always break motor mounts. They are easy to change because of all the room under the hood haha but hopefully i will find a better motor mount that could handle 400hp for at least a few years...not a few weeks.

  • Maybe try some locking mounts, I use them on my chev(not this impala) and they seem fine.

  • @impalaSS66 you got a 409 in yours?

  • @Hotrodnickell ma shitty boring 350, thinking about another engine atm.

  • Stupidity is rampant! This is the very reason I never went dragging, why build something nice intending to destroy it?

  • 283

  • ummm 327?

  • just modify the stock mounts buy drilling a hole through them for a 1/2" bolt and lock nut. Don't tighten them to compress the rubber leave about a 1/4" space between lock nut and mount. this is an old school trick I used in the 70's.

  • Run a chain through the motor mount around the frame and lock it with a padlock, and give it just enough slack so that it stills functions correctly as a motor mount/vibration damper, but not to much slack so that it still beaks the mount when you put the pedal to the metal. Worked great for me! And make sure you use a pretty good sized chain too. No wimpy stuff like a dog chain. That won't do at all.

  • time for new tires now?

  • Polyurethane seem to be the best for me but I also run the Powerglide tranny

  • Thanks for the tip. I will see if i could find some of those locking mounts. I dot know what causes it, but as soon as the driver side motor mount breaks, (which is always the one that breaks during burn-outs) if i step on the gas too hard, the accelerator gets stuck in the full-throttle position and slamming on the brakes wont stop it so I have to turn the key off. I dont know how/why that happens, but it scares the shit out of me lol
