Review of Bachmann Pepper A2 Pacific 60532 Blue Peter
Product Ref 20-2009. Limited Edition (3000) in wooden presentation box, released December 2010.
Analysis (praise and minor criticism) of Bachmann's latest LNER Pacific.
This is the kind of detailed analysis that I wish would be included in magazine reviews.
NOTE:
I should be pointed out the loco is supplied with etched nameplates, cylinder drain cocks, cab doors, and front footsteps for fitting by the modeller. These are to be found in the foam in the box above the tender.
Pickup is from the 6 driving wheels.
Running is silky smooth in both directions straight from the box.
Lovely model of a great prototype of one of the central figures of both the last days of ex-LNER steam, and of the mainline steam scene in the 1990s. Presently under the continued custodianship of the North Eastern Locomotive Preservation Group (NELPG), stored in BR Apple Green livery at Barrow Hill Roundhouse.
Feedback and any additional contributions (including info on my query on the middle cylinder and front frame shape), welcome in the comments section!
A big 'thank you' to members of RMWeb.co.uk for drawing my attention to some of the plusses and minuses of this model.
Well done Bachmann, worth the (long) wait!

great review if I can get one I definitely will, and personally I fell that bachmann is better at making steam locomotives than hornby mainly due to the detail that goes into the engines

A stunning review of a stunning engine. This review tempted me to purchase 60532 as it really looks great... it was even reduced to £100 exactly - brilliant price! James at SVN
