The Ground Breaking Ceremony for the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center was celebrated on October 1, 2009 in the Cramer Hill section of Camden, NJ.
The new center is being constructed on the site of the closed Harrison Street Landfill, which is being remediated under the auspices of the NJ Department of Environmental Protection. The center will serve thousands of families in Camden, Burlington, and Gloucester Counties.
Speakers at the ceremony included Majors Paul and Alma Cain; Major William Edmonds; Major Donald Berry, Divisional Commander; Gwendolyn Faison, Mayor of Camden; State Senator Jim Beach; State Senator Dana Redd; Assembly Speaker Joseph Roberts; Freeholder Lou Cappelli; Joseph Nardi, Advisor Board Chairman; Councilman Angel Fuentes; Donald Norcross, Southern NJ AFL-CIO Central Labor Council; Manny Delgado, Cramer Hill Community Development Corporation; Frank McLaughlin, NJDEP; and Joe Ventresca, Kroc Center Capital Campaign Committee Chairman.
