  • The Billing should include Dan Hartman, who wrote and sings this.

  • The band could have been called Winter, Derringer, Hartman & Ruff. All the members contributed so much. This was an awesome lineup of talent.

  • Can't believe the way they duplicate the harmonies live -- sounds so good! Also, never knew that explosion sound was the end of "River's Rising", as I always thought it was the beginning of "Animal". Thanks, YouTube!

  • RIP Chuck...

  • The boys hit #33 with the studio version, 8-10-74. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! RIP, Dan Hartman

  • I saw them at the Springfield Civic Center They were amazing. Dan Hartman was a crazy good bass player and singer song writer what a great group they were.

  • @Vitotesta Yes it does, it was Don Kirshners Rock Concert.....which is the one I remember from way back when.....He was singing and playing "Free ride"......not sure about the white strat, its been so long.....but that is the one I remember seeing.....phenomial performance and musician!!!!

  • @HerbStalkband I swear I remember seeing Dan Hartman playing a guitar solo on a white Strat back in the '70's on either The Midnight Special or Don Kirshner"s Rock Concert with Edgar Winter's band. Does that ring a bell? I was surprised to see it because I had no idea he played rippin' guitar too. Could my memory be fuzzy or might you be able to confirm?

  • That is one hell of a peppy song.

  • Dan Hartman was a genius and one of my all time favorite musicians. Not only was he a great bassist, he also played incredible guitar (he did all the guitars on "Queen of my dreams" ) and was a great vocalist and writer as well. R.I.P. Dan.
