Contest Winner Photoshop Speed Painting (Part 1)

This is the prize for nessc17, the winner of my 250 Subscribers screenshot contest that I held at the end of last year. I finished the picture in early February, but when I went to edit the 9 hours of screen captures, my external hard drive kicked the bucket and pretty much put me in a holding pattern for a while.

I'm back now, and there will be more to come soon!

Thx. I have another question. How do i set an opacity on the smudge brush i did see a setting

@mvpeezy there isn't an opacity per se because you're not laying down color, you're just pushing it around. The slider bar at the top labeled "Strength" will change the "hardness" of the brush, or just select the smudge tool and type the opacity that you want. For instance, you can hit 87 for 87% or just 8 for 80%, 0 will notch it up to 100%

can u please tell me what brush setting or tool you use to blend in your skin tones. i really really need your help. please?!!!

@mvpeezy To lay down the color, I used the palette knife brush from the brush set that I linked in the video info, and to blend the color, I use the smudge tool with the 39 Spatter brush set at an opacity ranging from 40-65%

Wow great jo with this! How did you do that guy's hair? How would you daw hosrt hair like or maybelike a buzz cut?

@Thoughtful16 Thanks for asking, that part went by very fast and I didn't get to explain it. The block of color for the hair layer was on top of the skin layer, so I used the eraser with a textured brush (you can see me selecting it at 5:57) to stipple out the hair at varying opacity to let the skin beneath show through. Instead of taking color away, you could stipple some skin color on top of the hair color instead. For a buzz cut, I would use a brush with a finer texture or a custom hair brush

Wow, I just got done watching your video and I must say you a very talented. I need your help. I'm a composite artist, and currently we hand sketch our drawings. The unit is interested in doing their sketches utilizing photoshop and they came to me for advise. The video was too quick for me to grasp it all and was wondering what would you suggest as far as learning your style. Do you have any other instructional videos?
