Italians are a bunch of racists so it's hardly surprising that Austria didn't get a look in.
It isn't surprising that she got shows in London and New York, places where being ethnic isn't a problem.

5:52 Has anyone noticed how similar all the models looked in that show? Broad cheekbones, light skin, narrow almost cat-like eyes, straight thin noses, square jaw lines... The features they share go on and on. Think about it, if they wiped off the makeup and covered everything so all you could see was the structure of their face, it would be very hard to tell them apart!
Austria and Madeline where something different and new, and they got passed for Cato.
