HELP!
I know this tune from a song from the late 50's / early 60's called, "The Battle Of New Orleans", so should I take it the tune was not original then?
I was in Wickham in '07 and I'm here to tell you, this Kentucky boy didn't want to come home!

The tune is from the song 'Battle of New Orleans' which I remember from Lonnie Donnegan's version when I was a kid some 35 years ago. He changed the words to make it sound like a British victory!
It is an old US song about the war of Independence, but how old it is I've no idea, and where the tune came from....
most of these tunes are Scots or Irish in origin, many have crossed the Atlantic more than once. Wickham Morris borrow tunes from all over, we even wrote a few of our own

Yes, Wickham Morris is a mixed side.
The English folk dance world includes men only, women only and mixed dance teams, and many different styles of dance, and is all the better for it.
