Severe Thunderstorm with hail - outside of Sanford, NC approx 3:15pm 7/27/09

This storm was a part of a mutlicell cluster of storms that developed in response to an upper level disturbance on the afternoon of 7/27/09 outside of Sanford, NC. Eventually the storms formed a line as they progressed toward the coastal plain. The hail in this video begins as pea to dime sized but eventually there are a few bursts with scattered larger stones upwards of penny to nickel sized. The NWS asked for the largest hail observed so that is what I reported. This is part of about 10 consecutive minutes with hail falling. The length of time is more impressive then the size to be sure (ok get that mind out of the gutter). Video taken by Jeremy Gilchrist. Chase assistance given by Bradley McLamb as he provided a solid radar report.

Note: the larger bursts are around halfway through and near the end of the video.

Awesome description of this real nice Tstorm/hail video..nice vivid lighting flashes too and good thunder..while seeking protection from inside of your parked car. So this was on 7/27/09--eh? Cool...because...exactly 1 year earlier to the day of your own awesome video..my place up here in southern RI had 8 hours of thunder....I got somenice videoing done...of one gorgeous CG-bolt and lotsa thunder on 7/27/08....WANNA see my video if you can CATCH this video-comment???
