  • I agree. That was completely wrong. You need to be way more forceful and along the medial aspect of the tibia, i.e. the bone. This guy is massaging anterior tibialis.

    See description of the test below as described in the literature.

  • Oppenheim reflex dorsiflexion of the big toe on stroking downward along the MEDIAL side of the tibia. Seen in pyramidal tract disease, a sign of upper motor neuron lesion.

    Test is described in the medical literature as follows:

    1. The examiner runs a fingernail along the crest of the patient's tibia.

    2. A negative test is indicated by no reaction or pain.

    3. A positive test will be evident by a Babinski sign similar as what is caused when doing the Babinski Test.

    There are no studies evaluating diagnostic properties so its diagnostic strength is unknown (sensitivity, specificity, likelihood ratios, etc).
