DRS 37's on Highland Main Line

The second week in October saw yet another pair of DRS 37s in action over the Highland Main Line working the trial container service for JG Russell. Here we see 37688 and 37087 on the Tuesday heading south through Dalwhinnie and then storming out of Blair Atholl with 4Z50, the 0922 Inverness - Coatbridge FLT. Also included is the southbound 'Highland Chieftain' earlier in the morning at Dunkeld.

You will notice that '688 is the only loco in power, with split-box machine '087 unfortunately dead in train.

I suceeded in my attempt to chase the train south and catch it twice within 23 miles (passing it twice in my car down Glen Garry). I was even going to try and get it down at Greenhill Junction as well and although I got ahead of the train again, I got lost and couldn't seem to find the road to Greenhill, so missed it. That's why you should always bring an Ordnance Survey map I guess!

Im sure u probably already know but the train is now 66-hauled.  It still leaves Inverness about 0920 as far as i know but i think it is now Mondays-only. I think its 1156-1159 at Blair Atholl. When it was the 37s i managed to get it at Dalwhinnie, over-take it then beat it to Blair Atholl though i dunno if thats always possible.
