Interstingly enough, there is an old recording posted here of Jerome Hines singing this aria at 17. Predictably, it too was quite raw and unpolished but you STILL heard the potential and we know what a force of nature Hines became for many years.

Promising voice,yes.I have in my memory Ezio Pinza singing this aria and it may have ruined me for any other version.I would love to hear him sing this again in 5 or 10 years.

Ich meine,der Typ ist doch noch nicht in dem Alter,wo die Stimme derartig Spannkraft verliert!?!?!?Der hat sich irgendwo dieses Leiern abgehört und denkt,so geht dass...
Dabei ist es total überzogen und vor allem künstlich.
