  • That's amazing, that those four channels in New York still air today. Of those four, only WPIX, Channel 11, still uses its call letters here in 2012, as a CW affiliate. The other three are now using different call letters (Channel 4 went from WRCA to WNBC in 1960, Channel 5 from WNEW to WNYW-Fox 5 in 1986 and Channel 13 from WNTA to WNDT, going public in 1962, and to WNET in 1970).

  • Wouldn't the fighter jet be about $100 in today's dollars?

  • This was well before my time, but I find this fascinating! I still remember one Thanksgiving Eve, our car broke down. We had to stay in a hotel and watch the Thanksgiving Day Parade! (back in 1999)

  • toys like this went through "D" batteries by the bucket load

  • I had one of these and loved it. Became a pilot in mid 80's probably because of it.

  • Here Sandy is a little out of character..since he's wearing eyeglasses.

  • Dear Deadwood,"Capt.Jack"McCarthy didn't replace"Officer Joe"Bolton as the host/performer of WPIX TV Ch.11 NYC's"Popeye Show".

    "Capt.Jack"replaced "Capt.Allen"Swift(Who hosted "Popeye"on Ch.11 weekday evenings)and "Capt.Ray"Heatherton(He mc'd"Popeye"on Ch.11 weekend evenings).

  • Dear IronMan,The host/puppeteer of the WOR TV Ch.9 NYC cartoon show..who played a circus ringmaster is named Claude Kirchner..not Floyd or Lloyd Kirchner.
